Listed responsibilities included designing cloud architecture and deployment, developing and maintaining back end source code, creating and maintaining unit tests and documentation, general security tasks including formal post mortems, and Alexa development and integration. Cloud architecture was designed to achieve highly available, consistent, fault resistent, scalable, and disaster recoverable systems

Developed an automated collaboration software designed to be used by lecturers in remote classroom. The software was written it the C# programming language using the Skype for Business application programming interfaces
Developed a conference room availability interface. These interfaces sit outside of corporate conference rooms and interact with Microsoft Exchange Server to show the day’s schedule

Co-lead the development of an open-source touch panel interface and control system allowing a user to interact with a classroom’s various audiovisual equipment. This system provided an alternative to proprietary systems in use in existing classroom designs at a cost under $200. Third-party alternatives cost $11,000 in more sophisticated designs. University of Illinois at Springfield, Illinois State University, and the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have shown interest and were working on building this system using our project documentation and software as of my departure
Developed server software including a web interface called Universal System Manager (USM) that managed and controlled approximately 250 rooms of audiovisual equipment saving the department $25,000 per year over the alternative. USM is open-source and able to be further developed to interact with any audiovisual equipment in addition to the currently supported manufacturers. It was installed at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Illinois State University, and the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as of my departure
Improved network security by placing all our audiovisual controllers on a private network after a denial of service attack. Also provided reports giving justification to transition away from a third-party security company to instead incorporating security monitoring into USM saving $21,000 per year
